This is so hard for me to answer! It's been so long since I have read a nursery rhyme. :) I even had to consult "The Google" to remind myself what was considered a nursery rhyme. I guess a mouse running up a clock is a bit strange (and alarming!)

Rock-a-bye, baby is pretty strange. Who would put a baby and cradle up in a tree to get blown down by the wind? Strange!

Pop goes the weasel! Like what does it even mean?

I feel like most of them are kinda dark, just like the original fairy tales. Rock a by Baby is disturbing if you actually listen to the words. Freaks me out. Question is...are there any that aren't discturbing?
The only one that comes to mind off the top of my head is rock a bye. When i sang this to my kids, I was afraid I would scare them!

Three Blind Mice is actually about the British Queen "Bloody" Mary who excuted 3 protestant leaders (among many other people). Kinda sick that we teach this to our kids...
I'm enjoying reading all of the comments on here, lol. I can't think of one that's not already been mentioned but to be honest, I've never even thought about the weirdness behing the ryhmes until now.

I can't say that, but maybe or maybe not. All I know that I enjoyed reading nursery ryhmes to my kids when they were little.

Nursery rhymes came out from a certain period of time. And yes they had some pretty wild and even political messages of the time. It's wild they became nursery rhymes eventually.
The ones that sticks out in my mind is Three Blind Mice. Why would you write a nursery rhymes based off of blind mice?!?! 😂
Growing up you don't realise how all the old nursery songs were quite savage 😂
